Many
visitors limit themselves to Avalon's front street, missing much
of what makes Catalina such a special place. These narrated tours
can give you an introduction to the rich history, biology and scenery
of the island. Guides are well-trained and experienced, and many
have lived on Catalina for years.

Tours
of Avalon take you through the town's quaint residential streets,
and then up onto hillside roads for impressive views of the coast.
Some tours include a visit to the Wrigley
Memorial and Botanical Gardens, where plants unique to Catalina
are grown, along with many exotic species from around the world.
Visiting
the island's interior is a chance to see unspoiled California -
this land is protected by the Catalina
Island Conservancy, and no further development will be allowed.
Wildlife is plentiful, and you will likely see herds of buffalo
and large coveys of quail. With luck you might spot fox, mule deer,
or even bald eagles. The terrain is rugged, and from the roads you
will enjoy views down steep canyons to the blue ocean.
