Recreation hall located in the basement of the Community
Church, at the corner of Beacon and Metropole, featuring pool tables
and video games. There is also a Study Center, with computers, cd-roms,
and reference books.

Fishing
Buy a dropline at Joe's
Rent-A-Boat on the pier, or at High Tide Traders
on front street, and fish off the pier, or try the ocean side of
the boat landing. You don't need a license if you fish off of either
of these spots. The bait door at Rosie's Fish Market
on the pier opens at 7 am (closed from Nov-March).
 Kayak
Kids Morning Special
Fun and fundamentals for safe adventures on the water,
for ages 8-14. Cost $15. Call Catalina

Boating
Pedal boats and kayaks are great for kids to cruise Avalon Harbor.

Los
Angeles County Library
In the county building at 215 Sumner Ave., across the street
from the tour bus plaza. Features a large selection of children's

Golf
Golf Gardens
Landscaped 18-hole course. Open every day, weather permitting. Hours
vary. Open evenings during the summer. 310-510-1200
Swimming
All three beaches in Avalon (South, Middle and North) have
lifeguards on duty from June until mid-September, from 9 am to 7
pm. Inflatable rafts and innertubes can be rented at the foot of
the green pier. Descanso Beach and Lover's Cove do not provide lifeguards.
